Tell you what, I don't care if she or any other illegal immigrant spends 4 days, 4 months, 4 years, or 4 decades in prison. They need to bring their tails here legally like my father did.
My dad could have taken a shortcut and come here illegally, but he wanted to do the right thing and not have to worry about the impact it would have on his kids. It was hard on him, and of course it took him longer, but when he finally did get here he didn't have to worry about getting deported. He eventually became a citizen of this country, and so did my mother who was also born in Mexico.
That is why you do things the right way and not take shortcuts. And before you lambaste me as being cold-hearted and not knowing what I am talking about, know that I am quoting my father’s views. He felt that it was a slap in the face to have worked so hard to get here and then have to listen to illegals complain about this very kind of crap.
We were dirt poor growing up, but thanks to the sense of honor and hard work that my father instilled in all of us by example we all have done alright and many of our children are going to college and university and being more successful than we were. Because my father had a green card and became a citizen he was able to get better jobs after being here awhile and things got better at home as we got older, although it never was easy. And we were able to contribute to society instead of living in the shadows and always just barely scraping by.
