Ashley Dye

Audience Engagement Strategist

I produce social media storytelling and maintain SEO best practices for The Marshall Project.

My Background

I focus on reaching and serving readers where they are — most importantly, those affected by criminal justice and immigration systems.

I started in local news, where I was most recently the Tampa Bay Times’ Engagement Editor and crafted engagement for two Pulitzer Prize investigations, “Targeted” and “Poisoned.” As a copy editor, I founded the Times’ “tbt* Coast Is Queer” section.

I am a recipient of the 2024 Curve Award for Emerging Journalists from The Curve Foundation and NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists. Over the years, my work has also been honored by the National Headliner Awards, the Society for News Design, NLGJA, and ACES: The Society for Editing.
